Jethro the Rottie x | Sydney Dog Photographer

Last Friday it was Jethro’s owner’s birthday so her boyfriend surprised her with a photo session in Centennial Park. [Which reminds me, it's time to start dropping hints for mine!] Jethro is a one year old Rottie x Lab so I was pleasantly surprised to find he’s REALLY obedient. It helped that the camera just loves him too!

Jethro has already had two hip replacement surgeries and is due an operation on his elbow, but he can still run around like a lunatic puppy!

Don’t you just want to hug him? He’s like a big plush toy.

After all his hard work modeling and running around he relaxed for a cuddle with Lea… awwwwwww!

Thanks for a perfect Friday afternoon Lea, Takeshi and Jethro.

Janet Palmer - oh he’s gorgeous!
LOVE the BW sad puppy dog eye one :)

Mel Hammonds - Jethro is gorgeous! Especially love the black and white image! Beautiful work, my friend!

Limited Edition | Sydney Pet Photographer

Anyone that knows me will know how hard it’s been for me to keep this project a secret for the last few months! I’m relieved to finally be able to share the news with everyone… if you live in Sydney, look out for these images of mine in bus shelters around the city!

M&CSAATCHI, in conjunction with Adshel, are running a pro bono campaign for Sydney Dogs and Cats Home. The objective of the project is to raise funds for the Home and also generate awareness around the many cats and dogs within the Home that are waiting to be adopted. The name of the campaign is Limited Edition and will highlight the fact that these animals are literally Limited Editions and will be put down if they are not adopted. You can help by purchasing the print or adopting the animal.

Limited Edition
20 well known, respected photographers
70 cats and dogs
70 one off artistic prints on display via a CBD gallery of metrolites
All prints for auction on eBay
Profits go to Sydney Dogs and Cats Home to help save lives

You have made an amazing donation of your time and talent.
I respect that from the bottom of my hart.

Thank you for helping these animals and putting yet another message on animal rescue and adoption.

Charlie and Emmy | Sydney Dog Photographer

I first met Vi at the MDBA Awards dinner in Sydney last year. We’re both members of the same dog forum so we kept in touch and later became Facebook friends. Even though I’d never met Charlie and Emmy before our shoot on Saturday I felt like I already knew them from all her photos and stories about them. I was warned that Emmy could be a bit of a snob so I arrived early to give her time to get used to me. Luckily she warmed to me straight away so off we went to the park for their glamour shots!

The Autumn light was just perfect. It made for some gorgeous bubbly bokeh shots. My favourite!

Charlie has some health issues so he can’t get around too fast, but that’s ok cause Emmy did enough running for two. And boy can this girl run fast!!

My duck toy was to thank for these great head tilts. She only gave me two, so I was lucky to get them both.

Dance Emmy, dance!

Charlie was tired after his big expedition, so he put his head down for a rest on the couch.

Emmy assumed position as watchdog at the front door!

Thanks for a fun shoot Vi, Richie, Charlie and Emmy! I hope you enjoy your gallery.

Shell - I love these too oh-so-much!

Awesome photos Ruth!

Jennifer Metzger - jeez, finally, what a tease you are. I love Emmy – probably ‘cuz she is white and I have a black dog. :) I do like spitz breeds though. I love “dance” and Charlie’s sad face at the end. :)

Linda Kitson - so gorgeous Ruth, you are rocking that light

Britt - What type of camera do you use? they are just amazing pictures.

Lisa Prince Fishler - great shots Ruth – my cuteness gauge is full now, thank you!

sarah - these are SO so good! :)

Ruth[less] - Thanks :)

Small but mighty | Sydney Dog Photographer

After Tiger, I think Paddy is probably my littlest client to date. He’s only small in stature though, he’s got a massive personality… and a pretty big bark! We met at his home in Paddington where he came running to greet me with his favourite toy in his mouth. He was happy to pose for 30 seconds at a time as long as I threw his toy in between shots. After the house we went to Centennial Park where he surprised me with his solid sit/stays. He sat very patiently on the steps while people came and went. Such a good boy. Afterwards he got to tear around like a lunatic. I think he liked that part the best!

Grace - Gorgeous, Ruth! Love the one in the leaves the best.

Simon - Lovely set, what a cutie!

Tegan - An adorable subject and great photos, as always!

Ian J - OMG Ruth, the one with the purple leaves is AMAZING!! That would look so cool on a MAAAAAASIVE canvas! :)

Tatiana - Too cute! Nice to hear when dogs have manners too.

Bethany Giannini - These are beautiful! I love the one she picked for her framed print (on the steps – saw on your Facebook)!

Flying dogs | Sydney Dog Photographer

Take one Dobermann and one big red dog. Add an empty park and some toys. What do you get? Flying dogs!

My plan was to do a shoot with Obi [the big red dog!] but a certain black and tan Dobermann needed to be worn out before she could be left alone in the house! Always stealing the limelight this one!!

She does stop to catch her breath occasionally.

Isn’t Obi just gorgeous? You might remember him from earlier in the year when he modeled a collar for Ruthless Leather. I still covet him!

Julie Austin - Awesome action shots Ruth! The dogs are sooo good looking!

Lisa Prince Fishler - Wow Ruth!

Deb - gorgeous shots, Ruth!

Rachel Richter - Wow, they are awesome! Love them all (great action shots) but the last one on the left is so sweet :)

Eileen - Ruth, you have to be the most awesome dog photographer I’ve ever seen.. Seriously, you rock! As a side note, how you manage to get dogs SO crystal clear when I can’t get my camera to focus on a single child is beyond me lol!

Belinda - Ruth! I’m always in awe when I visit your work. It is exceptional – truly. I love them all but for some reason that bottom right one gets me. Such an awesome sideways look!

Ian Jeffery - This set is probably my all time favorite set of yours, i love the variety of shots! I just love them, the colours are to DIE for! The processing is awesome, and the personalities of the hounds really comes accross. Nice one! :)

Ruth[less] - Thanks for all your lovely comments :)

Jennifer Stocks - God, these are so good. Love the last two in particular! How fantastic is your focus!

Linda Kitson - Awesome action shots, and just love the vibrant energy you have captured of these guys – bet their owners will just love these images

Jennifer Metzger - I especially love the dobie shots, especially the one with the rope and the leaping ones, such sharp action and brilliant color!
