A Ruthless Photos update | Sydney Dog Photographer

Today I was accepted as member of an international group called HeARTs Speak. The vision is to unite animal artists and animal rescues into collective action for social change. As I’ve done some work for Pet Rescue, MDBA PACERS, Seniors and Silkies Rescue and Sydney Dogs and Cats Home I’ve shown a commitment to using my photography to help rescue.

I intend to continue working with the groups above and I’m also in the early stages of planning a 2011 fundraising calendar. If you’re a photographer or artist and you’d like to get involved you can contact HeARTs Speak via their website.

Since blog posts are more fun with photos I thought I’d add a few recent faves. Enzo the Frenchie was modeling a collar for me recently and thought that if he kept offering me his paw he’d get the treat I was holding. Such a cutie! Beside him is Eisha the Boxer, another gorgeous collar model I used recently. Her underbite just cracks me up. I asked her owner if she wanted to fix it for the photo, but she declined and said it’s 100% her!

When I was over at Castle Hill Showgrounds photographing Eisha, I ran into Pepe and Nossi‘s owner with her new pup Envy [Yurrugar Green WithNV]. He’s a 12 week old English Toy Terrier. I knew he was a character because I’ve been stalking him on Facebook for the last few weeks, so I was happy to take a few snaps of him while I was there. Clearly Enzo had had a word in his ear about how to get the treat from the photographer! He’s such a great little dog – another breed to add to the wish list.

Lisa - Thank you Ruth – and as always, your photos look great! * Lisa

minta - ooooh…..enzo!~ that look =) so determined……lol

& Envy is such a doll =) that breed reminds me of my lil miniature pinscher’s i had ..too smart for their own good….

Amstaff Specialty – Apr 2010 | Sydney Dog Photographer

Saturday was a double whammy for us at the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of NSW’s specialty. We had our second outing with our Ruthless Leather stall and it was also my first event as the official club photographer! It was held at Erskine Park which is in the West of Sydney. Every time I’ve been there it’s been stupidly hot and Saturday was no exception. Hence all the panting in the photos! I took over 1250 photos, but the majority are ringside so I won’t post them here.

This is Chato wearing a wide black and antique brass Rocknrolla with a matching lead. I love how it looks on him. It’s strong and masculine without being too macho.

Buster’s owners arranged to have some headshots taken during the lunch-break. Isn’t he stunning? I love his mask. To the right is his “sister”, Missy the Stafford, jumping around in a regular burgundy and silver Asteroid Belt collar with a matching narrow lead. She’s a bit of a clown!!

Of course I made a beeline for every puppy that I saw…

…even if they weren’t Amstaffs!

Hera from Skylarulz also asked me for some headshots of her two boys. On the left is Hemi and Troy is on the right. Apparently he’s always smiling so I didn’t even try to avoid getting tongue shots!

At the end of the day Dutch’s owner asked me to take some stacked shots. When I was finished the leash came off and they had some crazy time. Myself and Dave were laughing our hearts out for about fifteen minutes while they played. They have a great bond and even though they play rough, Dutch knew who was the boss. What a lovely social and well rounded boy he is. A great ambassador for the breed.

I saved the biggest tongue shot of all for last!!

Cazzie - OMG Ruth awesum pics as always hun … LOVE LOVE LOVE the smiling puppy and the frenchie bubs ♥

Enzo and Mila the French Bulldogs

When I first decided I was going to take my pet photography more seriously I asked some friends if I could photograph their dogs for my portfolio. The first dogs I chose were Enzo and Mila the Frenchies. I unintentionally picked some very easy subjects to photograph. They are big personalities, achingly cute and well used to having a camera stuck in their little faces!!

Cute little munchkins <3

Charlotte Reeves - These little guys are great, I’m sure they will make fantastic collar models. :)

SJ - How cute!!
Stunning, love the Frenchies,I didnt realise they had ear dramas tho…lol

Ruth[less] - Yeah, I’ve seen one on DOL that has two floppy ears!

nancy - How precious! These are the cutest little dogs. Great shots!
