Bindi and Ralf | Sydney Dog Photographer

Last weekend Bindi and Ralf joined the ever increasing list of Fireax Dobermanns that I’ve photographed! Ella makes gorgeous dogs and these two were no exception. I had mentioned to their owner, in an email, that she might like to run them beforehand if she thought they might need to burn off some excess energy. When I arrived and saw how chilled they were I could see why she had laughed off my suggestion. They’re both eight years old, so maybe in a few years time I can look forward to my lot being well behaved when strangers come to the house too. Maybe?!

I started with Bindi purely because she was standing up and seemed ready. She was so easy to work with and the light was gorgeous.

They have a great big swimming pool in their back garden. I love how the blue compliments her chocolate coat.

She loves fishing tennis balls out of it. Don’t think she’ll give it back to you though, it’s HER ball now!

Next up was Ralf. He wasn’t quite as easy to photograph, but he loved my treats so he gave me some cracking smiles to work with. Editing out the drool took a while though!!

It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and your dogs Anna. If you need someone to house sit [preferably in the summer!] you just let me know, ok!;)

Wendy - The one with the reflection in the pool and the water dripping from her mouth – awesome!

Helen Green - Lovely photos, just love the colors of the Bindi getting the ball from the pool

Isn’t Photoshop Amazing? | Sydney Dog Photographer

A photographer friend of mine saw one of the photos that I took at the Dobermann Nationals and suggested with a bit of Photoshoppery [yes, that is a word!] it could be a great image.

Isn’t Photoshop amazing?!

This image and heaps more of my stuff is available to buy as cards, prints, canvasses, etc. in my RedBubble shop.

alexa - Yep, it is! I need to get better with it. Of course, that’s part of my style… Minimal editing. ;) I love what you did with this one.

Jessca - Wow, great photo!! The edit is really good!!
And what a beautiful dobie :)

Dobermann Nationals | strong dog collars

Ruthless Leather had it’s first public outing this weekend. We were invited to have a stall at the Dobermann Nationals. Even though we got there a day after everyone else we still managed to score a prime spot outside the main entrance. Cheeky buggers that we are! We didn’t know how well we’d be received as we don’t sell off-the-shelf, all our pieces are made-to-order. It went really well though and it looks like we’re going to have a busy few weeks ahead of us!

Not only did Dave put in lots of late nights getting all the collars and leads ready in time, he also built this display stand. Isn’t he a good boy?

These were our neighbours [and new business managers!], the lovely ladies from Little Originals and their dog Anoushka. They’re both art teachers and so creative. Their website isn’t up and running yet, but as soon as it is I’ll let you know. You’ll want to check it out!

I hope you like Dobermanns [Dobermen?] cause I took a motherload of photos! I didn’t get this guy’s name. I was so in awe of his beauty that I got into a bit of a fluster. All I know is that he was imported from the US and he looked stunning in our wide black and brass Stud Muffin collar! [ETA: Thanks to Jan for letting me know that this is Aussie [Am. Ch. Aquarius Raindancin At Walamara, WAC]

Here’s a couple of cute puppies getting the once-over and taking it all in their stride!

Below is Valour [Aust. Ch. Fireax Twice The Valour ET WAC] wearing a regular chestnut and silver Lone Ranger collar [too high and tight, woops!] and Thunder [Aust. Ch. Fireax Thunder Storm ET] wearing a wide black and silver Lone Ranger collar. Thunder was Best of Breed at the Sydney Royal in 2006 and he also won Best Competitive Veteran in Show on Sunday.

A few of my friends were showing so they asked me to take some headshots of their dogs for them. The light was beautiful on Sunday afternoon and combined with nice models, it was an easy half hour’s work! Below on the left is Rumour [Aust. Ch. Fireax Flamin Rumour] and on the right is Buffy [Fireax Enticing Envy] who won Best Opposite Junior in Show on Saturday.

This is Valour again. He’s Divani‘s litter brother. He’s won multiple Best in Groups and he was also Best of Breed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show last year. Such a handsome boy… even more so after I’ve photoshopped out the long strings of drool;)

We’ll be doing it all over again at the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of NSW Specialty Show next Saturday at Erskine Park, so come and say “hi” if you’re in the area!

Charlotte Reeves - Fantastic stuff Ruth! Looks like you had a ball, the collars look great on the display stand (nice work Dave) and wow there were some gorgeous Dobies there.

Jan Werner - The first photo is of the gorgeous “Aussie”, Am.Ch. Aquarius Raindancin At Walamara, WAC.

Ruth[less] - Thanks Jan!

Serena - I just love that first Dobe, have not seen anything quite like him over here. He is divine.

wendy - Your stand and display looks FABULOUS! Your husband did a great job!!! And I’m with you, I think Dobermans are one of the most beautiful breeds.

Ty - I love those puppies, they look so worried up there! Oh and I love the collars they look amazing!

Ruth[less] - Thanks Ty!

Dru - Gorgeous photos, as always. Gorgeous dog too! Collars look fab, all very professional!

Amelia - Aussie (the first dobe, American import) is my puppies father, such a lovely photo!

Princess Sparkles turns one! | Sydney Dog Photographer

It was Furia’s first birthday yesterday, so while I was over getting her to model some of our new leather pieces I also got some shots of her hooning around in the park!

She has a somewhat unique style of fetching the ball. This sequence isn’t a once off, she did it every time!! I don’t know how she doesn’t injure herself!

Janet Palmer - Oh she is beautiful!

Wendy - I LOVE the way she fetches! You’d have to make sure you never threw the ball on gravel, or cement or …

Furia’s not a puppy any more!

I wanted to grab a couple of photos of Furia when I was at the Schutzhund Trial. I had to battle with bad light and heaps of distractions, but I managed to get a couple of nice ones. Look how big she is now!!
