Mace the Dobe puppy | Sydney dog photographer

Mace is one of the MonElite Dobermanns puppies that I photographed a few months ago [see here and here]. He went off to his new home at 8wks but was returned at 14wks through no fault of his own. I had an afternoon free so Monika brought him over my way for some socialisation and a quick photo session. He’s such a great puppy. A credit to his breeder and also his first owner who did some really solid groundwork with him. Here are some of my favourite pics from the day.

Mace has gone to live on an olive farm in the Hunter Valley. I asked if I could go with him, but was politely turned down. Damn!

Update July 2011: Mace died in a tragic accident on the farm. RIP gorgeous boy.

Leanne - I love the dumbo running pic

Simon - ‘Struth Ruth, that’s a *great* set and a seriously handsome dog!

A Dog’s Life Photo - Beautiful photos. Love the action shot. I have a Dobie. They are wonderful dogs.

Jen - Gorgeous – I love the Dumbo running pic too – those floppy ears are so cute!

Evan - A true view of a beautiful breed and a beautiful dog that had a tragic end. I hope these pictures stay for all to see around the world.

MonElite puppies – Part 2 | Sydney Dog Photographer

Back in January I posted a few pics of MonElite Dobermann’s litter of 4wk old puppies. I went back to visit them last night and my how they’ve grown… into tiny terrors!! I know everyone says that puppies are cute, and it’s true, from a distance they’re just adorable. Unfortunately up close they’re all teeth and nails. I was surprised to make it out of there with my trousers intact and my shoelaces still in one piece! [Click thumbnails to open picture viewer.]

Most of the puppies are going to their new homes this weekend, but Monika still has a couple of pups available. Preference will be given to an owner that is interested in showing their pup.

Charlotte Reeves - Awwww Ruth so many beautiful photos of these little fellas! They are gorgeous! I can certainly appreciate the challenge involved though.

Ian J - Hehehe, love them, i love the fact that all have HUGE paws! :) Great photos though, glad you made it out alive! :)

Mel S - Beautiful series of shots Ruth. And by the sounds of it, you might’ve had a easier time facing a mountain lion (schmountain lion) than braving that pack of puppies! ;)
Such appealing little faces, and the ears, I love the ears.
Smiles…

Leanne - They looks like little devils! Very cute.

Bronwyn Hartigan - I am happy to say that I am the proud owner of one of these puppies (known as number 5 – but now renamed “Mace”) in Mackay Qld as of 2pm today. Your photos both at 4 weeks and now are amazing. Your calendar is proudly hanging in our kitchen thanks to Monika. xB

Lisa Prince Fishler - Love these photos Ruth – looks like a lot of fun!

Jennifer Metzger - i love the one biting the shoe! looks like a pile of naughty puppies to me! :) They are terribly cute though.

Leanne - Boy No. 8 of this litter will be coming join our family as of tomorrow. Your photos have been such a delight to see. Would love to know if you know which is which pup in this series at all.

MonElite puppies – Part 1 | Sydney Dog Photographer

I went to visit MonElite Dobermann’s puppies yesterday. They’re four weeks old and oh so damn cute!! I only took a few snaps as I’ll be doing a proper shoot with them when they’re a bit older, but here are a few of my faves until then.

Jen - Ruth, I think that maybe you have the best job ever. Gorgeous photos, as always!!!

Tatelina - Your photos keep adding more breeds to my ‘fav list!’

Anda - So much cuteness :) ))))))

Dallas - Mwah!!! Ohhh, love!

Nadine - Really cute photos! I hope soon to see more of the little ones! :)
Greetings from Germany

Flying dogs | Sydney Dog Photographer

Take one Dobermann and one big red dog. Add an empty park and some toys. What do you get? Flying dogs!

My plan was to do a shoot with Obi [the big red dog!] but a certain black and tan Dobermann needed to be worn out before she could be left alone in the house! Always stealing the limelight this one!!

She does stop to catch her breath occasionally.

Isn’t Obi just gorgeous? You might remember him from earlier in the year when he modeled a collar for Ruthless Leather. I still covet him!

Julie Austin - Awesome action shots Ruth! The dogs are sooo good looking!

Lisa Prince Fishler - Wow Ruth!

Deb - gorgeous shots, Ruth!

Rachel Richter - Wow, they are awesome! Love them all (great action shots) but the last one on the left is so sweet :)

Eileen - Ruth, you have to be the most awesome dog photographer I’ve ever seen.. Seriously, you rock! As a side note, how you manage to get dogs SO crystal clear when I can’t get my camera to focus on a single child is beyond me lol!

Belinda - Ruth! I’m always in awe when I visit your work. It is exceptional – truly. I love them all but for some reason that bottom right one gets me. Such an awesome sideways look!

Ian Jeffery - This set is probably my all time favorite set of yours, i love the variety of shots! I just love them, the colours are to DIE for! The processing is awesome, and the personalities of the hounds really comes accross. Nice one! :)

Ruth[less] - Thanks for all your lovely comments :)

Jennifer Stocks - God, these are so good. Love the last two in particular! How fantastic is your focus!

Linda Kitson - Awesome action shots, and just love the vibrant energy you have captured of these guys – bet their owners will just love these images

Jennifer Metzger - I especially love the dobie shots, especially the one with the rope and the leaping ones, such sharp action and brilliant color!

Furia the Dobermann | Sydney Dog Photographer

I rented a Canon 50mm f1.2L for the weekend as my 50mm f1.4 was being serviced. I was really hoping I wouldn’t fall in love with it as it comes with a pretty hefty price tag. To give it a proper test drive I asked my friend Monika if I could photograph one of her Dobermanns, Furia. Why Monika? Because she lives quite nearby and she’s ALWAYS promoting Ruthless Leather and Ruthless Photos to anyone who’ll listen! Why Furia? Well, within the first few minutes I was asking myself the same thing… but then I produced a Cuz toy and she quickly forgot about all the other people and dogs and horses that dared to be in her vicinity!

Lot’s of running and jumping around did funny things to her ears and her tongue!

Someone kindly left a pile of mulch in the park for me to use as a background texture.

On the way back to the car I spotted this patch of green so we stopped for some more pics and I proceeded to fall completely and utterly in love with the lens. Damn. I wonder if Santa Claus will bring me one?

Sam Pearce - I want the lens and the dog! These are awesome, I love the flying doberman shot! love your work

Monika Kawecki - Sorry you cant have the dog, she is MINE!!!
Love the photos Ruth, the flying one of course most, but the jumping are great so is every portrait!!

Ian Jeffery - Loving the shots Ruth! That lens looks sweet as, its expensive though isnt it :(

Lisa - Great job w/the lens, Ruth! Were you shooting with it wide open?

Ruth[less] - Not fully, close though!

Jennifer Metzger - Love the leaping shot!

Anita - Gorgeous! Were you using it wide open? If not, how was it wide open? I heard from a few people that they didn’t find enough of a difference between the 1.4 and the 1.2 to warrant the huge price increase, but these are so lovely!

ffiona Erskine - Love the shots of the Dob, what was the lens like to work with ? Just got myself the 50mm f1.4 and what I have taken was fabulous so I am wondering if the extra f stop is work buying. I see you will be at Erskine Park for Spring Fair will have to try and stop by to see you.

Love your work,

Cheers ffiona
