Happy Birthday to me! | Sydney Pet Photographer

I’ve been doing photography for a lot longer than a year, but I only launched the Ruthless Photos website a year ago. It’s been a great year and I’ve gotten to meet some fabulous dogs and their owners. Yes I come home covered in hair and slobber and sometimes bruised and scratched, but to get paid for doing something you love makes it the best job in the world. Long may it continue!

To celebrate my first birthday I’m having a giveaway on my Facebook page. All you have to do is tag yourself in the photo of Chopper to go in the draw to win a calendar and ten greeting cards of your choice from my RedBubble store.

Don’t forget that the 2011 fundraiser calendars are limited edition, so don’t leave it too late! The blog post with all the details on how and where to buy them is located here.

Kristin - Happy Birthday!!!

I adore your photography and always look forward to seeing more :)

Ruth[less] - Aren’t you just lovely?! Thank you for all the help and support you’ve given me along the way, you rock!

Simon - Congrats, I only found your blog recently, but I really like your style. Good luck for the future!

Ruth[less] - Thanks Simon :)

Another raffle for a white bull breed in need

Remember Sam the homeless white Staffy? When SBTCV Rescue saw he was in need of a home they offered to take him on if his owners could fly him to Melbourne. He arrived last Saturday with an open wound on his leg. His rescuer took him to the vet where he had to undergo some costly surgical procedures and have x-rays taken. He’s on the mend now and will soon have a clean bill of health. However, SBTCV Rescue rely entirely on donations from the public, so this unexpected expense has hit them hard.

In a small attempt to help I suggested a raffle. Two other Staffy loving businesses got on board to help also, so the prizes are as follows:

Ist prize: A Ruthless Leather collar to the value of AU$150*
2nd prize: A AU$50 voucher for the My Staffy online store
3rd prize: A Wolf’s Den custom-made polar fleece dog coat*

* These prizes include delivery within Australia. Overseas winners can choose to pay extra for international delivery.

Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and can be purchased via the SBTCV Rescue website. The draw will be held on Sunday 19th September and the winner will be notified by email.

Speaking of other white bull breeds in need… Bully went for his cancer surgery about eight weeks ago and he’s now 100% better. His owner also managed to find dog friendly accommodation, so they’re living together again. Gotta love a happy ending!

Please tell all your dog loving/dog owning friends and don’t forget to click the “like” button below to share this link in your Facebook news feed.

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming support SBTCV Rescue have already reached their target of $800. They can no longer accept PayPal payments due to their restrictions on selling raffle tickets. If anyone still wants tickets you can send a cheque to SBTCV Rescue, P.O. Box 73, Kyneton, VIC 3444. It must be received by last mail on 17th September. To ensure your numbers are allocated send an email to donna.treadwell1@three.com.au and she’ll email your ticket numbers to you.

Thank you all so much for your support. Sam went to his new forever home today. I had a lovely long chat with his new owner who has promised to send me some photos in a few weeks when Sam has settled in to his new home with his new sister. Another happy ending, yay!!!

Janet Palmer - Awesome cause, with wicked prizes… will blast it on Facebook :)

Ruth[less] - Thanks you :)

Sydney University Pet Fair 2010

On Saturday we took our Ruthless Leather stand to the University of Sydney’s Pet Fair. We were decked out in our new shirts – which took almost an entire day to source and get printed and cost more than one of our collars – and I brought my camera and treat bag as well, just in case! Lots of people turned out and some even came especially to see us. It was a beautiful sunny day and even though it made for difficult shooting conditions I managed to get a few snaps worth sharing with you. [Click on the thumbnails to open full size pics.]

We had a great day and met loads of awesome people and their pets. If you signed up to our mailing list on the day and this is your first installment – welcome! We’ll announce the results of the draw on our Facebook page on Saturday 11 September and the winner will be notified by email. [The album of photos is posted there too and there are heaps of comments if you want to go and check them out.]

I’m selling off some of my photography gear as I simply never use these pieces. I have a Canon 50D body which I’m selling for $850 +p&p* and a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM ultra wide angle lens with a lens hood which I’m selling for $750 +p&p*. Both are as new and come with boxes, manuals, etc. Email info@ruthlessphotos.com if you’re interested.

* Or free pickup from Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.

Mel S - Great shots Ruth. Especially love the one of the English BT. Slip and I would’ve come in to see you and strut our RL collar ’round the joint except that I was in Goulburn at a horse hoof trimming workshop.
Smiles…

Janet Palmer - oh look at those gorgeous faces!!

Ruth[less] - I know. I wish we could do a pet fair every weekend!!

Tatelina - I love going through your blog…favourite photo is the tri coloured Bull Terrier!

Bully | Sydney Dog Photographer

A week and a half ago we donated a collar to be raffled off to raise funds for Bully’s cancer operation. For those that missed it on Facebook, over $450 was raised. Thanks to everyone that bought tickets! I’d never met Bully before, but his temp carer lives quite near me so I asked if she wanted to meet up for a mini photo session. I’m a sucker for white bullies, so it was a big treat for me! Even if I did have to shower as soon as I got home to get all his drool off me!

Bully will be going for his operation next week, so fingers crossed it all goes well for him and he gets a clean bill of health.

Mel Sweeney - GORGEOUS photos Ruth, of a gorgeous boy! All the best to you Bully boy…

He and Kudos are reminiscent of one another… you do love the white bully fellas!

Smiles,
Mel
