If you’re not on my mailing list you wouldn’t have heard about my latest competition yet. It’s all a bit exciting!

1. Post a photo of your beloved pet/s here.

2. Share the link on your wall on Facebook and ask all your friends to vote for you.

3. The photo with the most votes at noon on 21 Feb 2012 is the winner.

4. The prize is a voucher for a standard photo session with Ruthless Photos for one pet [valid for 6 months] and a 12×18″ mounted print. The session must take place in Sydney. If the winner can not make it to Sydney they can choose to donate their voucher to one of the nominated rescue groups below.

Competition is open to Australian and international amateur photographers and hobbyists.
Only one entry and one vote per person.
You must have taken the photograph yourself or have permission from the copyright holder to post it.
No montages, clip art, logos or text across images.
Prize voucher is valid for six months.
The winning image is the one with the most votes at 12.00pm EDT 21/02/12. Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prize is not redeemable for cash.

Giving away + giving back | leather dog collars

Our Facebook page has been a bit quiet lately and we’ve been hovering around 1990 likers for what feels like forever. I’ve been planning a giveaway for when we reach 2000, but I can’t wait any more! When we reached 1000 we gave away a collar and lead to someone drawn at random, but this time we’re doing things differently. Since we’re big fans of rescue and rescuers we’re giving back as well as giving away.

How to enter
1. Post a photo of a dog in rescue in Australia here.
Please include a link to their adoption page. A background story is optional.

2. Share the link on your wall and ask all your friends to vote for your nominated dog.

3. The dog with the most votes and the person who posted the photo will both win a voucher for a collar worth up to $150 plus postage within Australia.

1. Competition opens 12:00pm EDT 27/1/12 and finishes 12:00pm EDT 3/2/12.

2. Competition is open to Australian residents only.

3. Only one entry and one vote per person.

4. The dog must be in care, awaiting adoption and under legal ownership with an Australian rescue group at the time of submission. It cannot be in a pound environment.

5. You must have permission or legal right to submit the photograph. We reserve the right to seek copyright owner validation prior to awarding the prize.

6. You do not have to be the rescuer but we’d rather you had some sort of affiliation or connection with the dog in question.

7. Prize voucher is valid for six months.

8. The winner is the image with the most votes at 12:00pm EDT 3/2/12. Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

9. Prize is not redeemable for cash.

In other unrelated news… the website isn’t working properly for some people using the latest version of Firefox on a Mac. We’re in the process of getting that fixed. If you experience issues in the meantime please use Safari instead.

We launched our website on April Fools’ Day 2010. Our supporters have been really loyal so we wanted to do something to mark the event. We thought about having a BBQ, but that would limit it to Sydneysiders. Instead we’ve come up with a huge promotion and, since the trend these days is to have a birthday week, we’ll be running it from Monday 28 March 2011 at noon [Sydney time] until the following Monday 4 April 2011 at the same time.

Everyone that buys a full priced collar from our website during that week will receive a complimentary narrow, standard or wide 4ft leash worth $75 [+GST] with their order.

As if that wasn’t enough, one lucky person will also receive a complimentary matching cuff. To be in the running here’s what you need to do:

1. “Like” our Facebook page > http://www.facebook.com/ruthlessleather
2. Post the link to this blog post on your own page and tag Ruthless Leather [instructions on how to tag are here]. Feel free to gush about how great we are and what a fabulous promotion this is!
3. If you have privacy settings on your account you need to “unlock” the tagged status update by clicking the padlock and selecting “Everyone”. Only then will it appear on our wall. I must be able to see your tagged post on our wall [under "most recent"] for your entry to be valid.

The winner will be drawn using Random.org at noon on 1 April 2011 and announced on our Facebook page. If the winner is not able to purchase a collar during the period of the promotion that’s ok, we’re extending the time frame for that person and giving them until noon on Fri 1st July 2011 to place their order.

Raffle for pet owners in flood affected areas of Australia

Ruthless Leather and Ruthless Photos have donated a huge prize to MDBA PACERS to be raffled off in order to raise funds to help pet owners in flood affected areas of Australia.

Happy Paws Training Treats have also come on board and very generously donated a second and third prize! Their treats are 100% natural and made in Australia. Our dogs go crazy for them… in a good way!

First prize:
– Any Ruthless Leather collar from our website, plus postage within Australia
– A standard photo session with Ruthless Photos
– A 16×24” canvas of a photo from the session
[Please see note below for more details.]

Second prize:
$200 worth of treats, plus postage within Australia

Third prize:
$100 worth of treats, plus postage within Australia

How much?
Tickets are $5 each or three for $10.

Where?
Tickets can be purchased by emailing the number of tickets you’d like to info@mdbapacers.org.au. You will be assigned a reference number and given bank details of where to deposit your payment.

When?
Tickets are on sale until 6pm on 25/01/2011 and the draw will be held on Sat 29/01/2011 at 10am [to allow time for all funds to clear]. The winner will be notified by email.

Please note – A standard photo session includes the following:
• Up to one hour travel each way from the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney
• On-location photo session for up to two subjects
• Shooting time lasting up to two hours
• 20-30 images selected, beautifully edited and uploaded to a private online gallery for 14 days

If the winner of the draw isn’t from Sydney they may exchange the photo session and the canvas for $200 worth of goods from the Ruthless Photos RedBubble store. Alternatively they may choose to donate that $200 back to MDBA PACERS.

I’ve been doing photography for a lot longer than a year, but I only launched the Ruthless Photos website a year ago. It’s been a great year and I’ve gotten to meet some fabulous dogs and their owners. Yes I come home covered in hair and slobber and sometimes bruised and scratched, but to get paid for doing something you love makes it the best job in the world. Long may it continue!

To celebrate my first birthday I’m having a giveaway on my Facebook page. All you have to do is tag yourself in the photo of Chopper to go in the draw to win a calendar and ten greeting cards of your choice from my RedBubble store.
