Giving back | Sydney Dog Photographer

This whole journey started by taking photos of rescue dogs and it’s still something that’s very important to me. I don’t have as much time as I used to, but I still like to help out in this area when I can.

If you’re a rescuer or foster carer with a dog that would benefit from new photos for their online profile please contact me. Once I have enough people interested I’ll arrange a day and a location [in the Sydney metro area] to do the shoot. Please email info@ruthlessphotos.com for more details.

This is not limited to Sydney metro rescue groups, but all shoots will take place in Sydney so you will need to get the dog here to be included.

Jain Parsons - Hi Ruth
I have been a huge fan of your work for some time now and saw a post on Petrescue FaceBook saying you were going to organise a day to take some good shots of any rescue dogs. Firstly, Has this already happened and if not, can I come along?

3 weeks ago I saved a dog from being PTS by sponsoring. I am an apartment dweller already breaking the rules as I have a big boofhead boxer so I couldnt adopt or foster. I have since found out that he has been sitting in Solar Lodge Kennels for all of that time as the rescue organisation have been too busy to advertise the fact he’s there. He is a Sharpai cross Amstaff and is such a gentle soul I really want him to have the best possible chance of a good home and I am stepping in to market the crap out of him (technical term :-) I have already parted with several hundred dollars for his kenneling fees – ongoing – so a free photo session with a photographer of your calibre would be awesome. I hope I am successful and look forward to your response. Kind Regards Jain Parsons Mob 0404 000 364

How does someone lose a puppy?

Stella turned up in the pound a few weeks ago. No collar, no tag and no microchip. She was about 13 weeks old, unsocialised, tiny and underweight. She served her seven days and no one reclaimed her so she went into foster care with Puppy Love Rescue. How does someone lose a puppy like this and not care enough to go looking for her? What kind of breeder puts a puppy in a home with an owner like that? Actually, don’t answer that…

Stella won’t be available for adoption for another couple of weeks, but Puppy Love Rescue have some other gorgeous babies that are patiently looking for their forever homes [including Bruno's sister Juno]. You can view their listings on Pet Rescue here. If you’re interested in becoming a foster carer please email Colleen.

Nyree Ord - Now she is with us, she will never be left alone :) xx I can’t believe no one went looking for her.. i go looking for her when i don’t see her for 5 minutes.. more so because i’m worried i’m going to lose more socks!! haha

David Couillard - I personally have big troubles with understanding breeding dogs as a living…
Thousands of dogs are already looking for families… Or dying without one… Why breed more?

Too many irresponsible owners out there…. Sad…

Jethro the Rottie x | Sydney Dog Photographer

Last Friday it was Jethro’s owner’s birthday so her boyfriend surprised her with a photo session in Centennial Park. [Which reminds me, it's time to start dropping hints for mine!] Jethro is a one year old Rottie x Lab so I was pleasantly surprised to find he’s REALLY obedient. It helped that the camera just loves him too!

Jethro has already had two hip replacement surgeries and is due an operation on his elbow, but he can still run around like a lunatic puppy!

Don’t you just want to hug him? He’s like a big plush toy.

After all his hard work modeling and running around he relaxed for a cuddle with Lea… awwwwwww!

Thanks for a perfect Friday afternoon Lea, Takeshi and Jethro.

Mel Hammonds - Jethro is gorgeous! Especially love the black and white image! Beautiful work, my friend!

Janet Palmer - oh he’s gorgeous!
LOVE the BW sad puppy dog eye one :)

Little Lion | Sydney Dog Photographer

On Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting Xiao Ni the Pomeranian. His name means little lion and when he struck this pose for me I thought it was utterly appropriate!

Xiao Ni’s owners are about to fly back to the UK to get married. Because he can’t go with them, his “Dad” arranged to have some photos done to give to his fiancĂ© on their wedding morning. How sweet.

Xiao Ni lives in a city apartment, but it has a great rooftop terrace where he can run around with his Cuz toy. Such a playful little man!

After the terrace we took a stroll down to the local park, but Xiao Ni was tuckered out after all his running around so he just sat quietly on the bench looking handsome.

Thanks for a fun afternoon Chris. I hope Emily likes her present and you both have a fantastic wedding day!

Chris - Hi Ruth,

We Just got back and checked your blog. The photos went down an absolute treat!! I gave them to Emily on the morning of our wedding and she was so happy with them. Thanks again for helping me out at such short notice, it was much appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris
