And the winners are… | Sydney Dog Photographer

…my feet!! For making it through an entire night in high-heels without falling over or getting sore!

Last night the third annual Master Dog Breeders and Associates Dog Owners Choice Awards were held in Sydney. I was nominated for Best Canine Photographer/Artist of the Year. I was also the official photographer at the event so I’d pretty much convinced myself that I wasn’t going to win. How could I? There’d be no one to photograph me accepting my award! When they started reading out the nominees for my category I suddenly felt really nervous cause I thought everyone would look to see my reaction when I didn’t win. When they read out my name I was totally shocked. I gave my camera to Dave with strict instructions not to change anything and to make sure all my limbs were in the shot! The next ten minutes are a blur. I know some nice things were said about me while I was standing on stage and I know I didn’t fall coming down the stairs off the stage, which is always a bonus!

I had to resume photographer duties after that so it wasn’t until we got home that I was able to kick off my uncomfortable shoes and put my feet up and let the good news soak in. We were told to prepare a little speech and I was all set to thank people but I never got a chance to, so I’ll take the opportunity to do it here now! Thanks to all my friends for letting me hone my skills by photographing their dogs time and time again. Thanks to Dave for always supporting me and telling me I’m great even when I think he’s just saying it to be nice! And thanks to my muse, the little baby Chopper, for being the best model a dog photographer could wish for.

Ruthless Leather Update # 7 | strong dog collars

Fingers crossed this is the last update promising that the website is coming soon! I’ve taken an ad in the MDBA Awards programme which is being held on Saturday night, so I’m really trying to have the website live by then. If I never have to build another website again I’ll be a very happy camper!!

Here are a few more pieces that have been made especially for the website.

Storm wearing The Stud Muffin.

The is Layne. His collar doesn’t have a name yet. His owner suggested calling it The Dimly Lit Squid after him, but I think that’s just mean! lol

Here’s Knuckles wearing The Spotty One.

This is her little brother Dutch and he’s wearing The Rocknrolla.

Divani did some sterling work modeling this collar, so I named it the Divadog in her honour.

We made this cuff for our friend’s daughter’s fourteenth birthday. She felt a bit special getting a one of a kind custom-made present! I haven’t come up with a name for this yet either so if you have any suggestions, bring them on!

Katy H - Can’t wait for the site to open! Feebs is waiting patiently……

Serena - The collars look awesome, well done.

Sourpuss and Smileyface! | Sydney Dog Photographer

I had a mini-session with Bell and Layne this morning. They were doing some collar modeling for me. Bell is Oscar‘s litter sister and she’s just as adorable. I joked about her having a sourpuss like Trixie, but her breeder explained that it’s just that she takes being an Amstaff very seriously!

Clearly Layne doesn’t take himself too seriously at all!!

Anita - These are awesome Ruth! Love the top left and bottom right the best!

Ruth[less] - Thanks! It’s soooo good to have my camera back :)

Serena - Love the bottom right. Cool.

American Staffordshire Terriers – no bull! | Sydney Dog Photographer

In case you hadn’t noticed, I’m quite partial to an AmStaff! [Well, all bull breeds really, but this post is about AmStaffs!]

Today I was asked if I’d like to be the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of NSW’s official photographer. I didn’t have to think too hard about that one!! The details for their upcoming specialty is here. Ruthless Leather will have a stall there too, so come and say “hi” if you’re in the area!

Nik - That’s awesome, Ruth!! I might pop in if I’m not busy that day!

Ruth[less] - Cool :)

Linda Kitson - Congrats, how awesome is that!!!!!!!!

Karina - Congratulations – that’s fantastic!
