Princess Sparkles turns one! | Sydney Dog Photographer

It was Furia’s first birthday yesterday, so while I was over getting her to model some of our new leather pieces I also got some shots of her hooning around in the park!

She has a somewhat unique style of fetching the ball. This sequence isn’t a once off, she did it every time!! I don’t know how she doesn’t injure herself!

Janet Palmer - Oh she is beautiful!

Wendy - I LOVE the way she fetches! You’d have to make sure you never threw the ball on gravel, or cement or …

The Turd Burglar | Sydney Dog Photographer

This photo was taken for the “places where dogs shouldn’t be” challenge in the 52 Weeks for Dogs group on Flickr.

Please don’t read this if you’re easily offended, of a sensitive disposition or generally don’t like stories about pooh!

Chopper’s always had a penchant for pooh. I’ll never forget how grossed out I was the first time I caught him eating dog pooh in the garden. My dog with the licking obsession also eats dog pooh, how revolting!! We learned to be more vigilant with the frequency of our pooh patrols and corrected him when ever he was caught doing it. It seemed to stop … either that or he learned not to get caught!

Our toilet doesn’t always flush properly, so if you do number twosies you have to try and remember to go back and check if it needs a second flush. Well imagine how utterly horrified I was to find Chopper in there one day with half his body in the toilet trying to reach a little left-over pooh nugget. Vile.

These days we make sure to close the lid, but poor Chopper can’t shake off his new nicknames … “shit breath” and “the turd burglar”. Bless.

I apologise if you’re a new visitor to my blog. I assure you this is as bad as it gets!!

Lisa - Oh my goodness….. Am I sick to be laughing out loud right now???? His front feet are IN THE BOWL?? I think Chopper would get along really well with my Ignatius.

Ruth[less] - Should I have made it clear that this shot is set up and he’s actually reaching in there to get the kibble off the cardboard platform??

Shannon Plummer - Absolutely priceless!! Set up or not – awesome image and execution – Love it!!!!!!

Ruth[less] - Thanks!

Serena - OMG Ruth, That is seriously vile, what is wrong with that dog……….LOL. Great shot.

Ruth[less] - Should I have waited until after you booked your flights to tell this tale??

TerraNik - Oh my! I was horrified when we were staying at a friend’s house and was told that Jedi had been drinking out of their toilet bowl (the toilet fills up a LOT higher than normal)!!! But this… This just takes the cake!!!!!!!!!

robyn arouty - omg! i can’t stop laughing! girl, did u plant a piece of poop in that toilet just to get this awesome shot?!

Ruth[less] - Haha, no a pizza box and some kibble!

Two Brindle Beauties | Sydney Dog Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing Pepperoni [AKA Pepe] and Cabanossi [AKA Nossi] yesterday! Their owner is very involved with agility so the dogs were beautifully trained and very easy to work with. We like that!!

It was primarily a session for Pepe so I spent most of the time with him. He’s a 9kg Staffy x Italian Greyhound. He’s like a teacup Chopper… with manners and an off switch!

When Nossi came to join us I couldn’t help but take some photos of him too. The camera loves him!!

Thanks for yesterday Niki, I really enjoyed meeting you and all your dogs!

Wendy - They are both gorgeous!!!!

Anita - ooo I LOVE the one of Pepe sticking his head through the railing! And you’re right, Nossi is definitely great in front of the camera!

Rob - Fantastic series and great DOF – really like Nossi

Kristin - The one through the railing is awesome!!

Alicia Kennison - Nicely captured Ruth. Great colour :D

Ruth[less] - Thanks for all your comments!

Astred - Wow Ruth! These are some of the best shots yet. So gorgeous, great doggie personalities that really show through in the photos.

Ruth[less] - Thanks Astred :)

grayson - Great photos!

Sharon roberts - Hi Ruth,
i think you are doing a great job love the pictures and so nice that you are working as a volunteer with rescue dogs,
I know whats its like we used to run a stray dog kennels and animal rescue in the UK, can be difficult sometimes hard no to get emotional, so many stories to tell, you capture them well with your pictures.
Keep up the good work.
